What we do is far from ordinary. Peopledepend on our products and solutions to work seamlessly atcritical moments – when property and personal safety are at stake. They’rebuilt to stand the test of timeand, at the same time, function effortlessly in daily use.
Throughout our history,we’ve been aleader. We’ve been first inscores of groundbreaking product designs. And today our people draw inspiration from that heritage.
We may have a new logo and name, but we’re not new. We’ve grown into a global enterprise. We’re a $2 billion provider of mechanical and electronic security products and solutions for homes and businesses in more than 130 countries across the globe. We sell products under 25+ brands and specialize in security around the doorway and beyond – everything from residential and commercial locks, door closers and panic release bars to access control systems and workforce productivity systems. Over a century, our category-leading inventions and innovations have kept people safe and secure where they live, work and visit.
Some of our production facilities are anchors for cities and towns across the world. Several generations of families have stood behind Allegion’s brands and we recognize that their longstanding commitment to our company requires a commitment from us: to invest in and improve the communities in which we operate. The development of our talented employees is essential for our shared success, and as a new company our employees will find numerous opportunities to advance their careers and challenge themselves to grow alongside our business.
Our brands have been innovators for almost as long as people have locked their doors. Bricard, for example, invented the masterkey system in 1889and it remains the standard for convenient access today. Von Duprininvented the exit device, or a “panic release bar,” after a tragic fire at Chicago’s Iroquois Theater claimed the lives of 594 people in 1908.Von Duprin continues to make the finest emergency exit devices on the market today. Schlage, established in 1920, was awarded the first U.S. patents granted for the ubiquitous cylindrical lock and push button lock and is now a household name, synonymous with strength. LCN, established in 1926, silenced the slamming door in response to a request by Boston’s Trinity Church.CISA,also established in 1926 and a highly-regarded brand throughout Europe, South America and Africa, patented the first-ever electric-controlled lock, and is known today as a category innovator. Steelcraft Doors, established in 1927, developed the first mass production hollow metal door in 1942 and now makes the largest variety of steel doors and frames available.
We are proud that our heritage is in mechanical products – the physical parts and pieces that make people and places secure. It is the foundation of our business and will continue to make up the core of what we do in the future. And it’s this heritage and foundation that makes us well-positioned to embrace the full potential of integrating electronics in our future. Without the physical hardware to back it up, technology loses its impact – and that’s why our ability to integrate smarter technologies with our core strength in physical security will make us a leader in our markets.
Because we don’t make ordinary solutions – because safety and security are at the core of what we do – we have a distinctive culture: progressive, expert, collaborative and inspired. We’re wholly dedicated to the millions of peoplewho depend on us to keep them safe and secure.
This responsibility is paramount to our employees, who represent their brands with pride. Our customers know that with us, what you see is what you get. No surprises, no shortcuts and no excuses. Just quality, reliable products designed to last.
